Whether you’ve got an eyeliner procedure done or some brow work, aftercare is extremely important for permanent makeup treatments. If you’re careful, the results can last for years and you’ll only need touch-ups once every two years.

But if you’re not careful, it can quickly become disastrous. But don’t worry; that’s why we’re here.

We asked the experts at Dermagrafix for some aftercare tips and here’s what they had to say: 

Stay Away from Water

After the treatments, you need to make sure you keep the area dry. This means that you need to protect it from water and sweat. Use sterile water wipes to wipe the area clean. This will help sanitize it as well. You need to protect the area from water for at least 2 weeks.

Avoid working out as well during this time to avoid excessive sweating. Furthermore, swimming and saunas should also be avoided for at least 4 weeks to speed up the healing process.

Don’t Pick at the Scab

Swelling and a little bit of bruising is common after PMU treatments. Healing can take up to 10 days and during this time, you might notice scabs. But make sure you don’t pick at them or poke them. This can lead to infections, which can lead to complications.

The crust will fall off on its own within a few days.

Avoid Products Laden with Harsh Chemicals

One thing to keep in mind is that you have to make sure your skin heals completely before doing anything to it. Make sure you protect your skin at all costs. This means avoiding using products that are laden with harsh chemicals.

Avoid using makeup and even strong, scented moisturizers. Furthermore, avoid using soaps or bath bombs that might irritate your skin.

Avoid Certain Skincare Treatments

For at least 4 weeks, you’ll need to avoid skincare treatments. This includes Botox, facials, chemical peels, and laser skin rejuvenation.
