Secrets Of Long And Healthy Life Explained

Long and healthy life is almost a paradox in today's world. People either lead a healthy life or have a long but inactive life. There are few exceptions where people have lived for over a hundred years and yet remained active throughout. Jeanne Calment tops the list among these centenarians, being verified as the oldest person to have lived over 122 years.

The two objectives in life can be termed as adding years to your life and adding life to your years. The struggle to meet both goals might seem like stretch targets, but there are people with good advice who can help you make it happen. You can learn from meeting these people or reading their books or watching their videos, learn how you may but make sure whatever you take in carries a positive vibe and a good spirit.

Some key elements that can help you live a long, healthy and happy life are:

     Keep Learning

Many people tend to lose control over their body functions when their mind becomes too weak to operate as it used to. The brain is like a machine; if you use it too much, it will get burnt out; if you use too little, it will cease to function after some time.

To keep your gray cells alive and working, you should develop the habit to keep learning. When you read books, watch movies, play games that require mental activity, the mind remains active, and the body follows.

You can also learn how to keep healthy and live long by reading relevant books. One of the experts in the field is Dr. Harris Phillip. He learned the BMS model from his paternal grandmother, who lived a healthy life till 115 years of age. Unbelievably, the only time she visited the hospital was during her last days. She did not indulge in the vices of everyday living, always maintaining a BMI of 23 to her last breath. She had a strong faith that enabled her to fight through every challenge in life. Dr. Harris Phillip has taken inspiration from her life and has written two books on improving health and fullness in life.

The recent book by Dr. Harris Phillip - The Authorities: Powerful Wisdom from Leaders in the Field - is a compilation of advice on health and longevity from prominent leaders worldwide. The list includes Les Brown, Raymond Aaron, Dr. John Gray, and eight other authorities in the field.

Regular Exercise

The human body's limits are only defined by ourselves. When we stretch ourselves to go farther than before, our bodies adapt and do things we never dreamed of doing before. Contrary to popular belief, we can change our bodies at any age. When we start exercising regularly, we tell our bodies that we want to be more active; the muscles break and get torn in the initial phase causing intense pain. But the new muscles formed are stronger, and we see our ability to literally go the extra mile.

      Meditate

The soul gives the body and mind purpose and direction. Without purpose, there is the point in getting up in the morning, going to the gym, picking up a book to read or engaging in a fruitful conversation. When you feed your soul with faith, conviction and bliss, it strengthens the mind and body from inside too.

Throughout centuries, masters of different religions have practiced and taught ways to meditate and connect with the higher power that provides us with ultimate strength and infinite wisdom.

Taking a few minutes daily to meditate in a quiet and peaceful place is the key to a healthy and happy life. Every day, you use mantras to remind yourself that you are blessed to be alive and that all negative emotions of jealousy, anger, guilt, or grief can be drained and replaced with joy, hope, gratitude, and compassion.

Together, these three habits can completely change your life. It does not matter if you start late; you can always join the path of the people who have demonstrated a healthy life by having more years and more life in years together.
