You probably think you know all about Mars, the fourth planet
in our solar system. But what makes this planet interesting is that there’s so
much left to explore. We still don’t know everything about it and over the
years, we’ve discovered various things that have left us in awe!
With that in mind, here are fun and interesting facts about
the fourth planet:
Mars Is Known as the ‘Red Planet’
It’s because Mars is covered in soil, rock, and dust made
from iron oxide, it has a rusty-red colored surface. Mars is one of the most
explored bodies in our solar system, and it's the only planet where we've sent
rovers to roam its landscape.
Mars Has Seasons
Yes, that’s right! Just like earth, Mars has seasons. It
experiences a tilt in its axis, which causes the planet to experience summer,
spring, fall and winter. The only difference is that it gets different sunlight
due to being closer to the sun than the earth. In addition, the seasons are
twice as long.
Mars Is Smaller Than the Earth
Mars is smaller than Earth with a diameter of 4217 miles.
This means that it is the second smallest planet in the solar system. The
smallest planet is Mercury.
A Day on Mars Lasts 24 Hours
Well, 24 hours 37 minutes, to be precise. This makes it
similar to our own planet. However, a year in Mars is 687 days long. That’s 1.9
years on earth. If you don’t want to age quickly, you know where to go!
Mars Has Weak Gravity
The gravity on mars is 37 percent than earth’s! This means
that on Mars you could jump 3x higher than on earth. Sounds fun, right?
These are a few interesting facts about the planet. Are you
interested in learning more about Mars? We recommend reading the book, “We’re Not So Different”.
The plot of the book focuses on Martians becoming exhausted
and tired of the meddling of humans on their planet, and decide to do something
about it.
After decades of probes the aliens are gearing up to declare
war. But not all of Mars’ residents are happy with the notion of war.
A Martian named Lois and her son volunteer to conduct a
scouting mission on earth, which will decide the fate of humans.
Fabian Grant will make you question your own perception of
the world around and life itself. Are we really who we think we are or are we
controlled by our desires to achieve something more? The themes of war,
conflict, and self-reflection are prominent in this book.
The book is available on Amazon and Kindle.
